Stolen property haul in Ngunnawal

ACT Policing has recovered a large amount of suspected stolen property following a search warrant in Ngunnawal on (Tuesday, February 16).

On Sunday (February 14) a male was arrested for Breach of Bail and subsequent information led Gungahlin police members to execute a search warrant at a residence in Ngunnawal.

As a result of the search warrant police recovered a large number of items including flat screen TV’s, bicycles, golf clubs, snow skis, fishing rods and various power tools.

Police believe the stolen items were a result of recent underground carpark burglaries carried out in the Franklin, Harrison and Gungahlin areas.

Officer in Charge of Gungahlin Station, Station Sergeant Rod Anderson said being able to recover stolen property is important to police.

“This is a good result for police but more importantly the rightful owners of the stolen property who will now have their possessions returned,” Station Sergeant Anderson said.

“Information given to Crime Stoppers from members of the community about suspicious persons or behaviour in your area really does make a difference.”

“If you know of someone who is offering property suspected to be stolen then contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or provide the details via act.crimestoppers.com.au where information can be provided anonymously.”

Police are also urging householders to make a visual record of their valuable items, and consider engraving them with some identifying details. This makes them more difficult to on-sell.

Two people are assisting police with their inquiries into the stolen property.
