Video / Civic carjacker in action

ACT Policing has released CCTV images of the alleged offender involved in the aggravated robbery of a white Audi Q5 last week (Tuesday, 7 June).

About 2.50pm on 7 June, ACT Policing received a report that a male offender, armed with a shot gun approached a female in the Canberra Theatre carpark, located on London Circuit in the City and demanded her vehicle.

The woman complied and the offender then fled in the stolen vehicle.

About 4.45am on Thursday (9 June), police responded to a report of a vehicle fire in Carver Lane, Gungahlin. Police confirmed the vehicle was the vehicle stolen from the Canberra Theatre carpark.

Detective Sergeant Shane Scott, Criminal Investigations has appealed for Canberra’s assistance in identifying this man.

“The alleged offender is described as Caucasian in appearance, of a medium build, with blue eyes and about 180cm to 185cm (5’11” to 6’1”) tall. He was wearing black track suit pants with white stripes, a dark-coloured jumper and a dark balaclava at the time of the offence,” Detective Sergeant Scott said.
