rabitsA GROUP of 7 metre high giant inflatable rabbits, illuminated by stark white light, have taken up residence in the Parliamentary Triangle as part of Enlighten 2016. Artist Amanda Parer hopes that visitors are amazed and surprised, but also pause and consider “Intrude’s” wider message. Visitors can view the rabbits on March 4,5,11 and 12 from 6pm. FREE.

ACTING  for the Fun of It courses are specifically for adults who wish to develop their creativity through exploration of drama and theatre skills. The courses are TQI (Teacher Quality Institute) accredited and teachers are able to count the 12 hours of each course towards their 20 required hours of professional development. The first course for 2016, “Acting for the Fun of It: An introduction to a variety of performance skills and techniques,” will commence on Monday, March 14 at ImproACT studios in Civic between 7 and 9 p.m. The course comprises 6 x 2 hour sessions on consecutive Mondays. APPLICATIONS are now open for the 2016 MAMA Art Foundation National Photography Prize 2016. M16 Artspace in Griffith has three new shows opening today, Thursday March 3, at 6pm. Stella-Rae Zellik shows documentary photography of the custom motor bike scene in Smiles for Miles. Jacob Potter plays with paint and material in his latest series of painting/objects. And Lynda Edridge re-presents painted portraits from mass-media imagery in ‘Dibutades Shadow’.

PHOTOACCESS has “The ONE Project,”  showcasing 28 works by 28 photographers using one camera and one roll of film, passed between each photographer over a period of six months. FROM the remote East Kimberley region of Western Australia comes the art of five senior Gija artists whose lives have been driven by the need to put cross-cultural communication and education into practice through art. CRAFT ACT: Craft and Design Centre’s exhibition, “Emerging Contemporaries” showcases the work of 2015’s outstanding graduate students and emerging craft practitioners and designer makers from across Australia. THE Australian Centre on China in the World has an exhibition entitled “Photographs of 1930s China” by Stanley O. Gregory, a selection of rarely-seen photographs of 1930s, taken by Stanley O. Gregory, from original negatives in the NLA Collection, printed in large-format for the first time.
