ACT Budget / Supporting ACT carers

A PARTNERSHIP between the ACT government, Carers ACT and democracyCo will develop a new ACT Carers Strategy, which will support almost 50,000 carers across Canberra.

Rachel Stephen-Smith
$200,000 has been committed to support carers who provide services to people with a disability, a mental illness or have a chronic health condition.

Minister for Disability, Children and Youth Rachel Stephen-Smith says the ACT Carers Strategy will improve support and recognition for Canberra’s carers, including young carers, older carers and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander carers.

“Supporting carers and ensuring they are able to maintain their caring role while achieving their own life goals an important part of building a stronger and more inclusive community,” she says.
