FRIENDS of Chopin Australia will have the brilliant young pianist ?ukasz Krupi?ski from Poland here for a recital at the Polish Embassy at 7pm on Friday, June 2. Then music lovers Brian and Dianne Anderson are hosting an intimate recital and high tea at 57 Arthur Circle, Red Hill, on Saturday, June 3, at 3.15pm. THE Human Rights Arts and Film Festival is opening its season with Hollie Fifer’s disturbing documentary “The Opposition”, which follows the struggles of 3000 residents of the Paga Hill community in Papua New Guinea when their homes were bulldozed to make way for a luxury resort. GOOD news is to hand that Canberra/Queanbeyan dancer Dimity Azoury has been promoted to the rank of senior artist with the Australian Ballet.

CANBERRA Symphony Orchestra’s second concert in its Australian Series will see Greenway 3, a trio of baritone voice, clarinets and piano, perform a repertoire that includes “About Light”, a commissioned work by Alice Humphries, who used the National Photographic Portrait Prize 2017 as her inspiration. “WE wanted to make a vibey space to create music in,” say Guyy and Adam Lilleyman, who have just opened their own Amberly Studios in Kambah. THE Street’s contemporary jazz focus continues with a performance on Thursday, June 1, featuring New York-based Israeli guitarist Yotam Silberstein and his quartet. THE Sydney Consort has Israeli virtuoso harpsichordist Michael Tsalka joining the ensemble for four Bach concertos.
