OOH la la, Bastille Day is almost upon us and it’s time for Canberrans to get themselves into revolutionary mode to mark the storming of the Bastille fortress on July 14, 1789, which heralded the start of the French Revolution.
While French women and French men all over the globe will be singing the strains of “La Marseillaise”, the revolutionary song that became the National anthem of France, the Alliance Française de Canberra has chosen a quieter path by holding a Bastille Day French breakfast with coffee, tea, croissants, baguettes, chocolate, cheese and salami to soothe the spirits.
To celebrate “La fête Nationale”, the Alliance is also holding a “Moulin Rouge” inspired dinner at Pialligo Estate, with French food, “Parisian entertainment” and conversation “suitable for guests 18 and above only”.
