Arts / NGA announces its full line-up

THE National Gallery of Australia has taken the unusual step of announcing its full line-up of exhibitions for the coming year.

Buoyed by confirmation that the ACT government will continue to support the NGA’s exhibition program following the announcement of its 2025 Major Events Strategy, it will be the “Presenting Partner” for its two biggest exhibitions.

As part of the partnership, the ACT government and the NGA have signed a memorandum of understanding for a three-year strategic partnership as part of supporting future collaborations and programs to drive tourism.

The full list of planned exhibitions is:

“Hyper Real”, October 22 to February 18, 2018. Tickets are on sale now.

“Cartier: The Exhibition”, features more than 300 works of art including loans from royal families, celebrities and the Cartier collection itself. March 30 to July 20, 2018. Tickets will go on sale in November.

“American Masters”, August 24 to November 11, 2018.

“David Hockney Prints”, November 4 to May 27, 2018.

“Arthur Streeton: Images of War”, December 15 to April 29, 2018.

“Angelica Mesti”, until April 7, 2018.

“Jess Johnson: Balnaves Contemporary Art Commission”, April 28 to August 26, 2018.

“Sarah Contos: Balnaves Contemporary Art Commission”, March 10 to September 24, 2018.

“HRH Prince of Wales Watercolours”, August 10 two November 18, 2018.

“NGA Play Indieguerillas”, December 16 2017 to May 13, 2018.

“California Cool Photography”, October 2018 to February 2019.

And the gallery’s piece de resistance? “Love and Desire: Pre-Raphaelite Masterpieces”, from December 4 to April 22, 2019.
