THE Canberra Chinese community is getting behind the Confucius Cultural Festival, with the aim of promoting better understanding and cultural heritage between Australia and China, in and around Lennox Gardens, Yarralumla, on Sunday, August 6.

Celebrating the Chinese philosopher’s 2568th birthday, the festival starts at 10am in the Chinese Gardens and will include the opportunity to meet models wearing traditional clothes.

From midday there will be a dragon dance and the chance to be photographed in traditional Chinese outfits.

At 2pm until 5pm, there will be a multicultural performance in Albert Hall.

All events are family friendly and free.

The day-long festival has been organised by the non-profit Australian Chinese Research Centre and supported by the Australian Chinese Culture Exchange and Promotion Association, Chinese Community Services, Australian Guangxi Friendship Association and the ANU Traditional Chinese Culture Association, the ANU Chinese Debating Club; and the Chinese Students and Scholars Association.
