Head-on crash injures five people

FIVE people, including two children have been injured following a two-vehicle crash in the Snowy Mountains.

Just before 1pm yesterday (Saturday, September 16), emergency services were called to the Monaro Highway, Cooma, after reports of a crash.

NSW police believe a blue Volvo travelling in a southerly direction on the Monaro Highway collided head-on with white Kia Sportage travelling north.

The driver of the Volvo, a 55-year-old woman and two passengers aged 15 and 11, were injured as were the driver of the Kia, an 84-year-old man and his passenger, a 77-year-old woman.

The Volvo driver and the Kia passenger were airlifted to Canberra Hospital. The driver of the Kia was taken to Canberra Hospital and the two children were taken to Cooma Hospital.

The children have since been released from hospital and the three adults remain in serious but stable condition.
