Hume Highway closed after fatal crash

BOTH south bound lanes on the Hume Highway are currently closed following a fatal crash this morning (April 18) where the driver died at the scene.

The single-vehicle accident occurred at about 10.20am near Coles Lane at Yarra.

Police have been told a Mitsubishi Pajero with five people inside was travelling along the Hume Highway towards Jindabyne when the driver tried to avoid hitting an object on the road way.

The Mitsubishi struck the object causing the vehicle to roll onto its roof.

One of the female passengers, sustained serious injuries and was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being airlifted to Canberra Hospital.

The remaining three occupants were taken to Goulburn Base Hospital as a precautionary measure with minor injuries.
