One dead as car hits wall and catches fire

THE ACT recorded its fifth road fatality following a single-vehicle collision in Campbell last night (August 1).

policeAt about 10.30pm, police responded to reports that a vehicle had hit a wall and caught fire at the intersection of Fairbairn Avenue and Mount Ainslie Drive, Campbell. ACT Fire & Rescue attended the scene and extinguished the fire.

The driver, who was the only occupant of the vehicle, died at the scene of the accident.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
