Parton calls for late greyhound report

WITH no sign of the greyhound racing industry’s transition report, which was due weeks ago, Shadow Minister for Gaming and Racing Mark Parton is urging the ACT government to publicly release the report immediately.

Mark Parton
Former ACT Health Services commissioner Mary Durkin was appointed in March to provide a report on the approach to the transition of the greyhound industry, which was to be completed by May 1.

“Given the level of community interest in greyhound racing and that the government plans to begin its transition of defunding the industry from July 1, this report should be made public immediately,” Mr Parton says.

Mr Parton calls on the government to not not shut the industry out of the conversation.
