Bystander walloped after trying to stop fight

A BYSTANDER has been assaulted after intervening in a fight between two men at the Belconnen Mall on Tuesday night (August 29).

Between 6pm and 6.30pm, a group of juveniles were near the Bus Interchange on Cohen Street when two of the men started fighting each other.

A short time later, the group of juveniles entered Westfield Belconnen near the Katmandu store while the two men continued to fight. A bystander intervened and was harassed by the group before being assaulted by a female.

He departed in the direction of the Platform 1 while being followed by the juveniles, who continued to harass and assault him.

Anyone with information that could assist police should call 1800 333000, or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website.
