Volunteers wanted for dementia study

ANU researchers are looking for people experiencing memory or other cognitive problems to take part in a new study on how to reduce the risk of dementia. The study is a lifestyle intervention for people aged 65 years and over and who live in the ACT and surrounds.

Mitchell McMaster, from the ANU Centre for Research on Ageing, Health and Wellbeing, said the study involves online education modules about how to reduce dementia risk, increase physical exercise, maintain a healthy brain diet and keep the brain active to reduce the risk of dementia.

“We are looking for people who experience memory of other cognitive problems in day-to-day life. So things like forgetting appointments, problems managing money or medications or problems with their attention or maintaining their train of thought,” he said.
