Algae risks close Lake Burley Griffin

LAKE Burley Griffin is closed to recreational users because of elevated Blue Green Algae levels, which could effect people’s health.

While its closed the Captain Cook Memorial Jet will not be used to remove the risk of inhalation of water droplets from the spray.

The water quality sampling and analysis for the nine recreational areas of Lake Burley Griffin were taken on February 19. The National Capital Authority says it will continue to monitor lake water quality weekly.

The National Capital Authority advises users to avoid primary contact and if contact occurs, to wash skin with water and soap.
