Canberra Youth Theatre’s “Filtered”… Ralph Wilson Theatre, April 8.

CANBERRA Youth Theatre is presenting “Filtered”, a physical theatre work tackling big questions (such as “are monsters real?”) of the kind asked by young people aged seven to 12. Adam Spreadbury-Maher… up for an Oliver award.

DIRECTOR Adam Spreadbury-Maher has emailed from London to say that his newest production of “La Boheme” for the King’s Head Theatre has been nominated for the Olivier Awards. As well, he says, the latest winners of the Stella Wilkie Award, named after the late Canberra theatre identity, will stage a show at the King’s Head in July.

“A CAPITAL Evening with The Spooky Men’s Chorale” is coming to Canberra, promising “the absurdity and grandeur of the modern male, armed only with their voices”. At the Wesley Music Centre, Forrest, Saturday, April 14. Bookings to trybooking.com or at the door.

GOOD news that “Country, for Nation”, the War Memorial’s first exhibition dedicated exclusively to exploring Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander stories of military service, will tour nationally until 2021. The exhibition features 60 works of art by 32 artists.

TOBY Cole says that this year’s Handel in the Theatre opera will be “Susanna”, to be staged in September by The Street Theatre director, Caroline Stacey, who is working with the company for the first time. WE hear that Chris Latham is heading to France for a month in mid-April as part of “Flowers of War”, with a visit to Amiens to showcase the much-awaited “Diggers Requiem”.
