MAXINE Cooper’s fixed term of seven years as Auditor-General finishes tomorrow (August 7).

Dr Cooper was amongst family, friends and staff today (August 6) when she was farewelled by the speaker of the ACT Legislative Assembly, Joy Burch.

Prior to being appointed as the ACT Auditor-General, she was the ACT commissioner for sustainability and the environment and the head of the ACT Water Security Taskforce.

Over the seven year term as Auditor-General, Dr Cooper made a significant contribution to the administration and public accountability of the Territory.

Director of financial audits and chief finance officer Mr Ajay Sharma will be acting Auditor-General for a period of up to six months while the recruitment process for a new Auditor-General is conducted.
