THE ACT government has committed $5 million to create a new philanthropic fund in Canberra, which will provide additional support to those Canberrans most in need.

The fund, called the Chief Minister’s Charitable Fund, is a collaboration with Hands Across Canberra, an independent community organisation, working with more than 160 local community charities to improve outcomes for the most vulnerable people in Canberra.

Chair of Hands Across Canberra Diane Kargas Bray says this gift to the community is a great example of collaboration between the government and the community to create long-term change.

“With the increased capacity more people will benefit from this support,” she says.
