Drunk driver crashes and flees

A DRUNK driver caused chaos on Canberra roads on Saturday (March 10) night after she was seen swerving on to the wrong side of the road and fleeing a crash. 

Police were first received a report about the 26-year-old woman at about 11.15pm when she was allegedly seen swerving on to the wrong side of the road three times before running into the curb on Maribyrnong Avenue, Kaleen, where the car then stopped.

Earlier that evening, police received information of a similar car being involved in a collision on Northbourne Avenue, where a woman left the scene without providing her details.

The woman was issued with an Immediate Suspension Notice and was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and leaving the scene of a collision.

She will face the ACT Magistrates Court in April.
