Gender parity sets the Women’s Day agenda

STEMMING from the suffrage movement in the late 19th and early 20th century, the suffragettes first celebrated International Women’s Day in 1911.

Now, more than a century later, women globally continue to celebrate their social, economic, cultural and political achievements.

While this International Women’s Day, on March 8, won’t be any different it will also focus on gender parity.

Following the “World Economic Forum’s 2017 Global Gender Gap Report”, which showed that gender parity is more than 200 years away, International Women’s Day will push the importance to keep motivated and #PressforProgress.

As world-renowned feminist, journalist and activist, Gloria Steinem, once explained: “The story of women’s struggle for equality belongs to no single feminist nor to any one organisation but to the collective efforts of all who care about human rights.”
