Man arrested after Jindabyne assault

A MAN has been arrested following an investigation into the sexual assault of a woman and the assault of a man in the Snowy Mountains last week.

The woman, 22, and the man, 25, were walking along a footpath on Kosciuszko Road after leaving a nearby licensed premises when they were approached by unknown men opposite Foreshore Park.

It was about 1.30am on Thursday, July 5, when the man was knocked unconscious after being punched in the head, before the woman was physically and sexually assaulted by one of the men.

After the man regained consciousness, he attempted to help the woman, but was again assaulted.

A short time later, the man flagged down a passing vehicle and the unknown men fled the scene.

Following extensive investigations, strike force detectives arrested a 28-year-old man outside a home unit at Jindabyne just after 9am today (July 10).

Shortly after, a search warrant was executed at the unit, where investigators seized items relevant to the investigation.

The man, who is British National, was taken to Jindabyne Police Station.

Inquiries are continuing.
