Storm brings calls for help

THE ACT State Emergency Service has responded to more than 100 requests for assistance resulting from today’s storms.

The jobs have mainly related to localised flooding.

ACT Fire & Rescue and ACT Rural Fire Service have also been assisting with the clean-up from the storm.

The ACT Emergency Services Agency has warned Canberra residents to stay off roads during heavy rainfall and not to drive into flood waters.

The SES also advises people to keep clear of waterways, which are likely to experience flash flooding in current conditions. When flooded, waterways can become unpredictable and dangerous.

For assistance during storms and flood call 132 500. For life-threatening emergencies call 000.
