<headline>Mercedes theft: two men charged, another on the run</headline>

<p><strong>Two men have been charged after a Mercedes Benz S400 was allegedly stolen from a Gungahlin home in the early hours of Sunday, with one of the men also accused of assaulting a police officer later that day.</strong></p>
<p>By late Sunday night police had spotted the Mercedes parked in Oâ€™Connor, with three men inside it.</p>
<p>Police say the men pushed them aside and ran off with a 19-year-old allegedly hitting a police officer in the face.</p>
<p>Police say they arrested the assailant, who was subject to bail conditions, in the backyard of a nearby property. He has been charged with driving a motor vehicle without consent and assaulting a police officer.</p>
<p>A 31-year-old man, who was also in the Mercedes, was found hiding in a shed and was arrested. He has been charged with riding in a motor vehicle without consent.</p>
<p>The third man has not been found.</p>
