<?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?> <docID>335425</docID> <postdate>2024-12-16 13:28:55</postdate> <headline>Homeless laundry stops after machines stolen</headline> <body><p><img class=" wp-image-335430" src="https://citynews.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/78-weston-creek-community-centre-e1734316010541.jpg" alt="" width="768" height="513" /></p> <caption>The Weston Creek Community Centre... robbed on Friday.</caption> <p><strong>The Weston Creek Community Centre's free laundry service for homeless people has been suspended after thieves stole the washing machine and dryer.</strong></p> <p>Manager Yung Tran said a thief cut open the gate padlock at the Cooleman Court centre's back courtyard around 3am on Friday morning.</p> <p>The two machines were a Bosch 10kg Series 8 washing machine and Bosch 8kg Series 8 heat pump dryer.</p> <p>The machines were set up by the centre about a year ago to provide free laundry services for the homeless and people in need.</p> <p>"It was an extremely upsetting and disappointing event as this service is now suspended while we are considering whether to reinstate the facility in the new year," Yung Tran said.</p> <p>"Please contact the police if anyone saw any suspicious movement last Friday morning around the back of the<br /> community centre, health centre and the Irish Club, or if you see [either of the machines] on sale online."</p> </body>
