<p><strong>Floriade had a record year, contributing an economic impact of $62.4 million, up 22 per cent on last year, according to ACT government figures.</strong></p>
<p>This includes $48.8 million attributed to visitors to the city.</p>
<p>A total of 462,322 people attended, of which the government estimates 216,651 (46 per cent) were visitors to Canberra.</p>
<p>UniSport Nationals, which also took place in September, generated $10.4 million in economic impact to the ACT, the government says. A total of 11,603 people attended the event, staying in the city for an average of 5.1 nights.</p>
<p>The event saw more than 6000 participants from 42 universities across the country compete across 31 different sports.</p>
