<?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?> <docID>335763</docID> <postdate>2024-12-22 12:36:40</postdate> <headline>Smashed and crashed: driver six times over the limit</headline> <body><div id="component_274790"> <p><strong>A 39-year-old man from Ngunnawal, more than six times over the legal alcohol limit, had his licence suspended immediately on Saturday night.</strong></p> <p>Police say that at about 8.30pm they responded to reports of a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Mirrabei Drive and Bernard Heinze Avenue, Moncrieff.</p> <p>The driver of a black Holden Commodore – one of the vehicles involved in the collision – attempted to walk away from the area when police approached him.</p> <p>A roadside alcohol screening test returned a positive result and he was subsequently tested again at Gungahlin Police Station where he recorded a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) reading of 0.306 – more than six times the legal limit.</p> <p>The 39-year-old was issued an Immediate Suspension Notice, suspending his ACT drivers licence for 90 days, and will appear in the ACT Magistrate’s Court on a charge of drink driving.</p> <p> </p> </div> </body>
