A viral internet sensation is ready to shake things up as the Aussie Eurovision pick for the annual musical extravaganza.

Sydney-based singer-songwriter Marty Zambotto, better known by his stage name Go-Jo, will fly the flag for Australia at the 2025 event in Basel, Switzerland.

Go-Jo, the ninth-most streamed Australian artist in the world in 2023, will perform Milkshake Man, a collaboration with Australian pop band Sheppard.

The 29-year-old grew up in Manjimup in Western Australia's southwest, on a self-sustained, off-grid property.

His French father built the place with recycled materials. His mother was the frontwoman of a local rock act who bought her son's first guitar from Toyworld.

Go-Jo played state league reserves football for Imperials in Perth, where he became immersed in producing, mixing and recording for other budding artists before carving out a path of his own.

However, his rise to fame began in Sydney after uploading a TikTok performing the song Mrs Hollywood while busking around the inner city.

Go-Jo has since amassed more than 1.4 million followers across TikTok, YouTube and Instagram.

His chosen track invites listeners to "come and take a sip from my special cup, I've heard that you could use a little pick-me-up."

"The Milkshake Man's purpose is to inspire people to embrace the loudest and proudest version of themselves," Go-Jo said.

"I can't think of a better place to share that message than the Eurovision stage."

Australia has been a controversial inclusion in the Eurovision Song Contest each year since 2015.

The country's best finish came the following year, with Dami Im placing second with Sound of Silence.

The 2025 event will be held in Basel at the 12,000-seat St Jakobshalle arena.

Last year's competition in Malmo, Sweden saw disqualifications, pro-Palestinian protests and complaints by Ireland's entry Bambie Thug.

Australian electro-pop duo Electric Fields failed to qualify for the final with their song One Milkali.

The final was watched by 163 million viewers globally, and taken out by Switzerland entrant Nemo with the song The Code.

The 2025 Eurovision Song Contest will be held May 13 to 17 and will air on SBS.
