ACT arts leads the way

TWO leading Canberra arts organisations are among the front runners at the Australia Business Arts Foundation’s NSW and ACT AbaF (Australian Business Arts Foundation) awards reception last night.

At the reception, hosted by the Governor of NSW, Professor Marie Bashir at Government House, The National Gallery of Australia and Wesfarmers won the AbaF Partnering Award for their partnership in the Wesfarmers Arts Indigenous Fellowship and the Indigenous Arts Leadership program.

Canberra Symphony Orchestra and Macquarie Group Foundation have received the Toyota Community Award for a series of free educational concerts called “Noteworthy,” an interactive program that has brought orchestral music to more than 16,000 people.

In addition, the Visy Arts & Environment Award has gone to South East Arts Region and NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service for their collaboration on the project called “Now You See Us.”

The annual awards honour NSW and the ACT’s most successful relationships between business, the arts and donors. State winners and the national finalists will go on to compete at the 2011 AbaF Awards dinner in Perth on October 11.
