TWELVE students from the ACT have won an Australian Student Prize.

The students, who studied in 2010, were awarded in recognition of their excellence in academic achievements and were nominated by state and territory education authorities.

Federal Member for Fraser Andrew Leigh congratulated the ACT students on their achievements and said the Australian Student Prize is a way of recognising and rewarding students.

The Prize is also awarded to members of the 2010 Australian Mathematics and Science Olympiad teams who won medals in mathematics, informatics, physics, chemistry and biology.

Each student received a certificate and $2000 from the Australian Government. The 12 ACT students were part of 500 students across Australia who were awarded for their achievements.
