All-clear for fire site

NO contaminants or toxins have been detected in Mitchell from Thursday night’s factory fire at Energy Services International.

The exclusion zone, which covered the whole suburb of Mitchell, has been reduced to the factory fire site in Dacre Street and the industrial estate in which the business is located in.

Tooth Street, Pelle Street, Flemington Road northbound between Randwick Road and Sandford Street will also be closed.

The new exclusion area will remain closed until the clean up of residue, supervised by Environment Protection Authority, has been completed.

All schools closed on Friday have reopened and cancelled Action bus services have resumed.

The ACT Government will consider compensation issues around clean-up costs and loss of revenue for affected businesses.
