CANBERRA has received more than $35m worth of media exposure around the globe thanks to the Queen’s visit.
The figure, compiled by Media Monitors, was drawn from more than 20,000 news stories that appeared in print, broadcast and online around the world.
“The images of the Royal Couple on Lake Burley Griffin and at Floriade in our beautiful spring sunshine last week were simply priceless in terms of promoting Canberra’s image to a global audience,” Chief Minister Katy Gallagher said.
The Queen and Prince Philip’s visit to Floriade on Thursday also saw the flower festival trend globally on Twitter immediately after the visit.
The value of media coverage is expected to rise again after the Queen’s visit yesterday to the Australian War Memorial.
