Call for stand-out Aussie

KNOW someone who could be the Australian of the Year?

Nominations for the Australian of the Year Awards 2012 officially opens Wednesday, July 6, at the Great Hall of Parliament House. The National Australia Day Council says they rely on nominations submitted by the public to find the Australian of the Year, Senior Australian of the Year, Young Australian of the Year and Australia’s Local Hero.

Past winners attending tomorrow’s event include Australian of the year 2011 Simon McKeon, Young Australian of the Year 2011 Jessica Watson, Australia’s Local Hero Donald Ritchie OAM and National Australia Day Council chair Adam Gilchrist.

To nominate, visit www.australianoftheyear.org.au, phone 1300 655193 or pick up a nomination at a Commonwealth Bank.
