Boom times in the north

WITHIN in a decade, more than 20,000 people will be living in the new suburbs of Molonglo and, by 2021, Gungahlin’s population will be close to 73,000 residents, according to new population figures released by Chief Minister Katy Gallagher.

The projections show that, over the coming decade, the majority of the ACT’s population growth will be in the development areas in Molonglo and Gungahlin.

“The projections also indicate the Woden Valley and Weston Creek-Stromlo populations will have the greatest proportion of older persons,” says Gallagher.

“The complete redevelopment of the health system including the hospitals and community health centres has been mindful of these demographic changes.”
