Braddon gets hopping

THE neighbours in Braddon will have no choice but to get hopping this Sunday afternoon, when Music For Everyone’s Open Day has young music-makers from around the ACT joining in Come and Try Sessions, MusicPlay for pre-schoolers, singing for adults and teens, and drumming for all ages.

With the focus on practical activities, features of MFE’s ongoing community music programs will be showcased through performances of violin, cello, flute, guitar, recorder, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, singing, drumming and even a visit from Act up Sing Out’s troupe of actors.

And if you already play acoustic guitar, flute, clarinet or saxophone you can join an instant acoustic guitar ensemble playing at 1.15pm or an oversized wind ensemble at 2.30pm. But you’ll need to visit www.mfe.org.au to download the music to sign up.

The day concludes with a bang at 4.30pm from Music for Everyone’s Rock Academy youth bands playing their original songs and rock classics.

The MFE Open Day is free to everybody and takes place at the Ainslie Arts Centre, Elouera Street Braddon, September 18, from 1-5pm.
