Car pursuit leads to arrest

A POLICE pursuit through Lyons and Phillip has ended in an arrest.

The pursuit began at about 4.20pm yesterday, when police spotted a Holden Commodore speeding along Hilder Street in Weston.

After seeing the car do a burn-out, police attempted to stop the car but the driver failed to stop. A pursuit began, but police lost the sight of the car on Hindmarsh Drive.

Police said at about 4.35pm, a caller reported a Holden Commodore was dumped and a man was seen running from the car to Waramanga shops.

Police identified and arrested the described man at the Waramanga shops.

The Holden Commodore was later reported stolen.

The man was charged with performing a burnout in a vehicle, driving a motor vehicle without consent and driving while right to drive was suspended. He faces ACT Magistrates Court today.
