DESPITE breaking weather records, Canberra’s warm spell isn’t going to last.
According to the Weather Channel’s chief meteorologist Dick Whitaker, today is the second day in a row for temperatures to exceed 20°C, the first time since 2007.
“Canberra’s temperature has only gone above 20°C on two consecutive days or more in August on six occasions – all in the late Augusts of 2007, 2004, 1995, 1982 and 1987,” he said.
“Yesterday and today represent the earliest time in August we’ve seen two consecutive days above 20°C.”
He said the warm weather ends tomorrow, with temperatures expected to drop back to 12°C and 14°C on the weekend.
