Dugan returns to Raiders

CANBERRA Raiders and State of Origin fullback Josh Dugan was given the all clear by medical staff to play in this weekend’s game against Melbourne Storm at Canberra Stadium.

Dugan, who injured his ankle in a game against the Cowboys in 13, will also be joined by Daniel Vidot after Reece Robinson was ruled out for four to six weeks from a knee injury he sustained in Saturday night’s loss to the Sharks. Robinson underwent knee surgery today.

Raiders Coach David Furner said it was great to have Dugan back in the side and he’ll be up for the challenge this weekend.

“He’s ready to go. He’s completed the training sessions he needed to, he’s back in the fulltime training squad this week and he’ll run accordingly in the number one,” Furner said. “Josh is a big game player and brought plenty of confidence back with him after his Origin game so I’m expecting him to rise to the challenge against the Storm.”

Furner said it’s also a chance for Daniel Vidot to get back into the form which saw him as the Raiders top try scorer last season.

He said he had full confidence in Vidot to get back to the footy he knows he can play.

Boom rookie Josh Papalii will miss three to four weeks with a groin injury, giving Bronson Harrison the opportunity to return. Danny Galea also gets a start this weekend at left back row.

Galea’s inclusion sees Joe Picker move back to the bench and Josh Miller named as 18th man.
