Flying leap at fame

SNAPPER Silas Brown turned up to a press call to meet untrained dancers Allan Marc Raeyers and Richard Merzian, who have been selected to perform in the acclaimed “Untrained”, at The Playhouse this weekend.

“Untrained”, conceived and directed by Melbourne-Based Lucy Guerin, brings together four men on stage. Two are highly skilled, professional dancers who have performed in theatres across Australia and internationally; and two have no dance training whatsoever.

Each performer responds to a series of written instructions ranging from the banal to the hilarious.

A sell-out success at festivals in Hong Kong, Sydney, Adelaide and Perth, “Untrained” began as a workshop exploring Lucy Guerin’s interest in choreographing for non-dancers. What has emerged is a rare and funny insider’s view into dance as an art form .

Richard and Allan will perform alongside former Canberrans and professional dancers Dean Cross and James Shannon, who have both worked with Quantum Leap.
