THE final Harry Potter film installment has smashed records at the Australian box office earning $25.46m in the first five days of release.
“Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2” opened nationally last Wednesday and claimed Australia’s highest opening day of all time earning $7,092,351.
It also broke Australian records in the highest Wednesday of all time, the highest Saturday of all time earning $5,234,146, highest Sunday of all time $4,632,596, the highest four-day opening weekend of all time $18,368,621 and the fastest film to ever reach $25m.
The film has earned an estimated worldwide box office total of more than $476m – smashing multiple international box-office records including the US single-day box office record for Friday at $92.1 million.
“Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2” opened in Australia on 754 screens, 144 more than “Harry Potter & Deathly Hallows – Part 1”.
