• CONGRATULATIONS to Tempo Theatre for having snaffled up the rights to perform Agatha Christie’s “The Mousetrap” in the 60th anniversary of its record run in London. Season runs from September 9-24, bookings to 6275 2700 or www.canberraticketing.com.au

• ARTIST’S books, framed prints, drawings, images, lenses, cabinets of display, ribbons, pigments, herbarium boxes, ephemeral sounds and voices can be experienced in “Re-Imaging Nature: Hidden Visions and Ground Truth” by artist-scientist Mary Rosengren, at CSIRO Discovery Centre until August 2. Dr  Rosengren is a recipient of the Australian Network for Art and Technology Synapse grant.

• IT’S jazz night again at the Alliance Française, 66 McCaughey Street, Turner, on July 29, 7pm-9 pm with the provocatively titled Brass’ere, a Canberra-based group in the style of the New Orleans brass band.  Bookings to 6247 5027.

• LEIPZIG-BASED soprano Hannah Berenson and harpsichordist Chris Berensen, will perform Purcell, Blow, Haydn, Nadel and more in the Wesley Music Centre, 3pm, July 24. Berensen will be playing the music centre’s 18th century French style 2-manual harpsichord. Tickets at the door.

• OUR Artist of the Year, cellist David Pereira, is at it again with “Yearning for Home”, Program 2 in this year’s Cello Series. Pereira, pianist Tamara Anna Cislowska and violinist/director of the Canberra Music Festival Chris Latham will play Chopin, Liszt, Dvorak and more. They’re playing at the Finnish Embassy (pre-booking essential) on July 29 or the following day in the Wesley Music Centre at 2pm. Bookings to  www.davidpereira.com.au or 0404 499348

• HURRY to enter the Australian Stencil Art Prize. The winner will take home $2000. Last year’s winner was Canberra’s E.L.K. but he’s not entering this year. Enter online at www.australianstencilartprize.com by August 1.
