It’s pouring musicals!

FREE-Rain Theatre Company never does things by halves. As well as announcing its 2012 season at a function in the Canberra Theatre Courtyard Studio launched by David Weeden on Monday, November 7, director Anne Somes also awarded the outstanding artists and backstage personnel from a bumper season in 2011.

It’s obvious that musicals have been very successful for Free-Rain in the past year, so next year they’ll do “Chicago” at The Q in February, “CATS” at the ANU Arts Centre in July and Neil Gooding’s “Back to the 80s – The Totally Awesome Musical” in September.

Jarrad West will direct “The Velveteen Rabbit” as part of Free-Rain Frolics in January, Cate Clelland will stage John Patrick Shanley’s play “Doubt,” made famous by Meryl Streep and Philip Seymour Hoffman, in April and Liz Bradley will direct Christopher Sergel’s adaptation of “To Kill A Mockingbird” in October-November.
