Nightrider bus starts tomorrow

THE Nightrider bus service kicks off tomorrow night, offering Canberrans a safe and affordable way to get home after a night out in the city.

The bus service, provided by ACTION, only costs $5 per trip and will run from December 9-10, December 16-17, December 23 and December 30-31.

Departing from Platform 7 at the City Bus Station, eight Nightrider routes will take passengers home every 90 minutes between 1am and 4.45am, with extra services to operate on New Year’s Eve.

The Nightrider routes will service suburbs in Belconnen, Gungahlin, Inner-North, Inner-South, Woden and Tuggeranong dropping passengers at the bus stop nearest to their home.

Each bus will have CCTV facilities and ACTION supervisors will be stationed at the City Bus Station to assist with marshalling.

“Feedback will again be sought in the new year to determine people’s views of the service and evaluate its success,” Chief Minister Katy Gallagher said.

“I encourage everyone to try catching a Nightrider this year as a great alternative to getting home safely from festivities in the city this season.”
