Police pounce on teens robbing club

FIVE men were arrested last night after a lengthy police investigation into a number of aggravated robberies in the ACT.

Police investigations revealed on Thursday, December 1, that five men all aged in their late teens, were planning on committing an aggravated robbery on a club in Canberra’s south.

Yesterday evening, three of the five men were seen by police approaching the front door of the club armed with knives and a hatchet. Police said the three men, wearing disposable coveralls, attempted to gain entry to the locked club.

ACT Policing’s specialist response and security members arrested the men out the front of the club. The other two men were seen leaving the area in a vehicle and were stopped by police and arrested a short distance away.

All five men were conveyed to the ACT Watch House and will face the ACT Magistrates Court, charged with conspiracy to commit aggravated robbery.
