Radio shock: Pete says goodbye to Biggzy

Carla “Biggzy” Bignasca is now paired with former breakfast producer and presenter Joe Gleeson, while Pete Curilli has returned to his drive-time slot.

According to promotions and marketing director Zak Davies, Pete had indicated about three weeks ago that he’d like to go back to the drive slot.

“Pete decided drive was his strength,” he said.

“He prefers to work solo and work more with the production team and on the music.

“Programming music has been his passion.”

Mr Davies said they are now “trialing” the new pairing of Joe and Biggzy, who “loves what she’s doing”.

He said that nothing is set in stone and there were other personalities available that could also be trialed for the position.

“We are taking our time, it’s not a rush,” he said.

“There’s no set timeline.”

Pete and Biggzy hit the airwaves as Mix 106.3FM’s breakfast team in July, replacing the popular Cam and Lisa breakfast show.

However, the last radio ratings in August revealed a drop in the breakfast audience for Mix, with its share dropping two per cent from Cam and Lisa’s earlier 12.2 per cent to 10.2 per cent.
