A 44-YEAR-OLD Kaleen man was caught speeding last evening at 125km/h in Belconnen, 65km/h over the limit.
The man was speeding along Aikman Drive, when he was caught shortly before 5pm. He was fined $1811 and lost six demerit points.
Belconnen Station officer-in-charge Sgt Matthew Corbitt said, given the time the offence occurred, it was extremely fortunate there wasn’t a serious collision or fatality involving the motorist.
“People who believe that it’s okay to travel at excessive speeds on our roads need to realise the danger that they are putting themselves and other road-users in by their behavior. This type of irresponsible act will not be tolerated by ACT Policing,” Sgt Corbitt said.
ACT Police are targeting speeding motorists this month.
Australian documentarist Damon Gameau made "2040" to show his four-year-old daughter Zoe how her life might be at age 25 by suggesting how technologies available in 2019 might help humankind avoid extinction. DOUGAL MACDONALD reviews the film.
