Sustainable help at hand

Jane Hall will be in Canberra for Sustainable House Day.

QUEEN of sustainable interior design and The Circle regular, Jane Hall, will join with local service and community groups this Sunday as part of Sustainable House Day in the ACT.

The event kicks off at 10.30am with mini markets, and stalls from not-for-profit and community groups including Lifeline and the Country Women’s Association of Gungahlin.

There’ll be a showcase of lifestyle and household products along the recycle, reuse and renew theme, including desk-top herb gardens and mini composting systems, natural hair care and baby products and environmentally friendly household and cleaning products.

From 11am, some of Canberra’s best sustainability experts will be providing talk and tips sessions throughout homes in the Crace demonstration village to showcase sustainable building products and practices, and provide advice and information on building sustainably.

The Lions Club of Gungahlin will be cooking a fundraising sausage sizzle and kids can join in activities including face painting and glitter tattoos.

At 11.30am and 12.30pm, sustainable design guru Jane Hall will be on hand to show how to turn unwanted trash into decorator heaven with workshops on design and decorating for the home. Bring along a piece from your own junk collection to get some advice from Jane on how to turn it from shabby to chic.
