Thief hijacks car

A MAN stole two computer tablets in Belconnen and hijacked a car into the city yesterday morning.

At around 10.10am, the man stole two tablets (similar to iPads) from the Good Guys store in Lathlain Street, and approached a driver of a purple Jeep Cherokee parked on the street. The offender threatened the driver at knife point to drive him to the city.

Once they reached Barry Drive in Turner, the offender jumped out of the car.

The offender is described as Caucasian in appearance, 20 to 30 years of age, about 185cm (6′) tall, with a slim build. He has short hair, tanned skin and crooked, discoloured front teeth. He was wearing a dark-coloured, long-sleeved top with horizontal white stripes, blue jeans and a dark-coloured baseball cap.

Anyone who has seen a man matching the description in the city area yesterday is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or visit www.act.crimestoppers.com.au.
