Chic minimalism meets feminine elegance in a polished look that is perfect for taking on Canberra’s winter, writes Fashion editor LIBBY ROLFE.
RADIO star Lisa Ridgley, who agreed to model a new-season winter look for “CityNews”, loves winter in Canberra and relishes the chance to get rugged up in the season’s fashions.
“I love the idea of getting dressed up,” Lisa says. Originally from Queensland, she had never owned a pair of boots before moving to the ACT.
“I remember when I first arrived in Canberra, I was freezing and brought my first pair of boots at Westfield Belconnen. I was so excited that I called my friends in Brisbane to tell them about my purchase!
“The best thing about Canberra is that we experience four distinct seasons – go for a run around the lake in winter and you really know you’re alive.”
This season think tailoring reminiscent of the 1950s – hourglass silhouettes teamed with pretty ruffles to soften the look.
On-trend items include the camel coat, pencil skirts and anything featuring lace.
The animal print trend is not going anywhere and is a great way to make a statement, but remember, a little bit goes a long way.
It’s a return to the classic tailoring this winter in neutral tones, vibrant reds and elegant black.
