Zoo gets lemur duo

THE National Zoo and Aquarium has two new arrivals, a pair of ring-tailed lemurs called Lily and Indray.

The new additions are part of a regional breeding program for the species, Lily coming to Canberra from Hong Kong and Indray from Perth Zoo.

The National Zoo and Aquarium said the international coupling was planned to create a new genetic bloodline in the regional breeding program for the species.

“Although they have different personalities and are cheeky from time to time, Indray and Lily have hardly left one another’s side since their introduction,” it was said in a statement.

“Zoo staff have their fingers crossed that the pair will successfully breed.”
