Art with a focus on climate change

"Flight," by Julie Bradley, 2011, mixed media.
FORM Studio and Gallery is staging a formidable show of strength by local professional artists responding to the theme of climate change.

Works in several media are to be exhibited by Terri Brooks, Heather Burness, John Pratt, Robyn Kinsela, Julie Bradley, Nicci Haynes, Nicola Dickson, Kirrily Hammond, Paul Summerfield, Lara Doolette, Bev Hogg,  Claire Primrose, Maxine Price, Annika Romeyn, Teffany Thiedeman, Robert Watson, Chris Harman and Debra Boyd-Goggin.

The artists favour combining art and science with the intention of questioning long held beliefs and even perhaps challenging the way we all live our lives.

Artist Bev Hogg gives us a flavour of the force driving this exhibition, saying: “My figurative sculptures bring together social, political and environmental issues that we face today, on a local and global level.  They explore the complex relationships and interconnectedness between people, animals and environment – both rural and urban; man and natural.”

Hogg believes that as a society we are confronted with the need “to make informed choices and balance the triple bottom line – environment, social and economic.”

Prof Stephen Dovers, director of the Fenner School of Environment and Society, and a Queanbeyan resident, will speak at the opening at the opening at 6pm on June 6, to which all are welcome.

“CLimARTe Change” at  Form Studio and Gallery,1/30 Aurora Avenue, Queanbeyan off Yass Road, until June 28.
